Have you thought of pursuing a career in the skilled trades? There are tremendous opportunities in a wide range of sectors for young people in BC. We are now accepting applications to join our Rewired program this summer and fall.
Rewired for the Trades is a paid program for youth aged 16-29 years that begins with 4 weeks of classroom instruction including site and career tours, relevant certifications, and vocational assessments to identify your strengths and interests. The program helps you make a plan on how to move forward in your career journey.
Once you finish your classes, you will have an 8-week paid work experience in your trade of interest. Upon completion we will support you to find employment, or help you to get the education, training, and additional certifications you require to move forward on your chosen path, including apprenticeships.
Here’s what previous participants had to say about their experience:
“I would highly recommend this to anyone feeling unsure or reluctant to help themselves start their path of work or education.”
“I learned a lot about myself, and about working, that has really helped me after the program ended; I now have my dream job working at an automotive shop with the best team…”
“Being in this program helped my realize that I do not have to have everything together and figured out. It is okay to remember that I have my whole life to learn new things, and I do not need to know everything now.”
“All you need to be successful in this program is show up everyday and be open to learning. They have incredible resources and everything you need to truly learn about the workplace. The work skills are taught in a fun and easy way to learn, and I enjoyed every day spent there. I’m so thankful that I got to participate in it.”
