Addressing GBV through Promising Practices
Based on best practices and current studies, Hollyburn Community Services Society is implementing a project that provides immediate therapeutic and triage support to under-represented women and girls who have experienced Gender-based violence.
The intent is to lessen the impact of trauma and to see a decrease in anxiety, depression, and substance use while providing a quicker return to normality versus the implications of delayed interventions.
Upon intake, the survivor will receive free clinical counselling services along with the development of a service plan while triaging immediate needs. The Victim Service Worker will support the survivor to access the resources required such as housing, income, education, emergency support, safety plans, medical support, and child supports.
The Program is funded by Women and Gender Equality Canada and runs from September 2023 to March 31 2026.
